Movie Theater Guerilla Marketing Campaign
Project Type
Marketing
The Problem
A movie theater needed to promote the release of the movie “It.”
The Approach
The locally-owned movie theater had a limited budget, so our approach was a low-cost solution that would garner free publicity.
The Solution
Red balloons and sewers are associated with this movie. We purchased a balloon for $1 and tied it to a sewer grate outside the theater. We tipped off one local social media reporter that a balloon mysteriously appeared at that location.
The Result
Passersby took notice of the eerie balloon floating outside the theater. They took photos and shared with their friends on Facebook. Images of the red balloon appeared on Facebook groups. A radio station shared the story on their Facebook page. The community was amused by the incident and wondered who was behind it. News spread that “It” was premiering at West Bend Cinema.
