Three weeks into the new year. How are you doing with your resolutions?

.

That good, eh?

Yeah. We may have slipped up a few times too. Let’s be real…We were never going to completely cut out chocolate anyways. However, for millions of Americans, the turning of the calendar is the start of the most popular resolution—losing that holiday (and any other) extra weight.

I decided to investigate and found myself at West Bend’s 24-hour Anytime Fitness, located at 790 W. Paradise Drive. I sat down with Club Director, Keith Lester and Assistant Club Director, Kaitlin Winker, to find out how they help people to reach their fitness goals.

Keith explained that Anytime Fitness focuses on getting adults in shape through coaching programs offered to all members. These programs take the form of both large and small group sessions as well as one-on-one coaching with a certified trainer. In fact, almost everyone on the staff has a Bachelor’s degree in either a health or exercise-related field. This allows the trainers to accurately and safely guide new and existing members through their workouts.

Within the last year, Anytime Fitness in West Bend has had a pretty extensive makeover. This included tearing down an enclosed studio area and opening it up for more “functional equipment” to be brought in. These machines mimic more of a daily routine, to challenge and improve your balance, core strength and stability. They also focus on movements that you will see and use routinely.

Not only did these changes provide members with more workout options, but they also allowed the staff to add more varied routines in the training programs they offer to clients. Members may also purchase one-on-one training options, in addition to the normal membership.

Keith dared me to try some of the latest machines. Never one to turn down a challenge, I tried the Ski Erg Machine. Just looking at the machine was intimidating, but Keith showed me that it was really just like downhill skiing. I grabbed the cables and pulled down as though as I were headed down a mountain. The first couple reps were awkward, but once I got into the flow of the exercise, I felt ready to tackle the 2022 Beijing Olympics. Ok, maybe I need just a few more trainings and I’ll book my tickets.

And that is one of the things Keith, Kaitlin and the entire staff really stress. Becoming healthy isn’t just going to happen overnight. It’s going to require a change in your entire lifestyle. The motto of Anytime Fitness is, “There is no such thing as too out of shape to start. Everyone can make a lasting change.” It’s this culture that has pushed the West Bend location to be in the top 20 percent of all Anytime Fitness locations worldwide. Not too bad for a gym that has only been open since 2006.

We love supporting local West Bend businesses, and not only is Anytime Fitness locally owned, but their staff members also live, shop and eat in West Bend. Keith has lived in West Bend for almost 30 years. Besides college in Stevens Point, Keith has been in West Bend his whole life. Like the rest of his staff, Keith calls West Bend his city and his home. We are proud to have them as part of our community.

So, if you’re looking for a way to work off the cookies and eggnog, give Keith or Kaitlin a call at (262)338-1441 or stop in to see them. The location is staffed Monday-Thursday 10-7 and Fridays 10-5. If you mention this LMC Biz Buzz article, they’ll even waive the enrollment fee. That’s a value of $99. So what are you waiting for?

There are certain mandatory things that happen on every first day on the job. Being shown where the coffee maker is. Finding the restroom. Determining if you are #TeamSalty or #TeamSweet when it comes to bagel choices. How do you eat your string cheese? And of course… Telling your new coworkers about yourself.

How much I should reveal right off the bat? Like, do I tell everyone that I absolutely love Alice in Wonderland? Or that I have over 150, almost 200, bobbleheads? Do I express my love for all things pop culture (Except the Kardashians!) and have a not-so-secret man crush on Justin Timberlake and Ryan Braun? Or do I let that come out organically?

Oh wait…

So anyway,  hello. My name is Chris Witt and I am #TeamSweet and I am the newest Social Media and Digital Content Creator with Laura Mitchell Consulting. To say that this is a dream come true is an understatement.

Some of the other interesting tidbits about me: I moved to Wisconsin in 1993 and love it here…Except the winters. I hate the cold. Seriously hate. It makes me cangry (Think “hangry” only with cold not hunger).

I am a sponge for social media. You can find me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat or almost any other social media channel out there.

And finally, I am a sports fan. I love the Brewers, Bucks, Badgers (When they aren’t playing UW-Milwaukee or UNC) and UW-Milwaukee.

I am truly excited about joining this prolific team of marketing professionals at LMC. Their collaborative nature is inspiring, and streams a constant creative flow. I am looking forward to being a part of it.

And one other thing I almost forgot… If you eat your string cheese without pulling it first, what kind of monster are you?
